Defines a standard electronic data interchange structure (protocol) that can be used to exchange electronic digitized images of financial documents (e.g., checks) among the different financial institutions involved in a payment transaction. This standard uses electronic data interchange to enable the exchange across diverse computing platforms. This is the second public review for this standard. It first appeared in the January 19, 1996 issue of Standards Action. It is being resubmitted due to substantive changes made to the original submittal.
