These requirements cover station inlets and outlets intended for use in hospitals for distribution of nonflammable medical gas in rigid piping systems in accordance with the Standard for Health Care Facilities, NFPA 99. 1.2 These requirements do not cover station inlets and outlets designed to operate at non-standard operating pressures as defined in the Standard for Health Care Facilities, NFPA 99. This new edition revise and/or replace nonmetallic enclosure and parts requirements to reflect current technology, add acceptable alternative constructions, and achieve consistent wording in similar standards. Add and revise terms in the glossary section to promote consistency and clarity throughout the standard. Revise the term "No. X AWG" to read "X AWG" throughout the standard in accordance with Articles 200.6 and 250 of the National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70 -2002. Delete references to HACR Type circuit breakers. Replace ASTM Oil No. 3 with IRM 903 Oil for the Oil immersion test as ASTM Oil No. 3 is no longer being used. Incorporate editorial revisions, which includes typographical corrections, clarifications, updated outside references and renumbering of the standard to promote consistency and clarity throughout the standard. Add Appendix B for informational purposes only. This appendix contains explanatory and clarification type material, numbered to correspond with the applicable text paragraphs in the body of the standard.
