These products have been typically used for parts to be machined in the annealed condition and requiring high strength ratio up to 750 degrees F (399 degrees C) after solution and precipitation heat treatment, but usage is not limited to such applications. Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; SAE ARP 982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
