This standard shall specify minimum design, performance, and certification requirements and test methods for all Personal Alert Safety Systems (PASS) to be used by fire fighters and other emergency services personnel who engage in rescue, fire fighting, and other hazardous duties.This standard shall apply to the design, manufacturing, and certification of all new PASS including, but not limited to, Stand-Alone PASS and SCBA-Integrated PASS. This standard shall not apply to any PASS manufactured to previous editions of this standard. The requirements of this standard shall not apply to accessories that might be attached to PASS unless specifically addressed herein.Nothing herein is intended to restrict any jurisdiction or manufacturer from exceeding these minimum requirements.
