This Draft for Development describes a method for assessing the pot life of a lilled resin composition by determining the time after mixing when the composition fails to wet a filter paper.
The test procedure is detailed in this Draft for Development and reference data are provided to assist the visual judgement of the pot life end-point.
This method is suitable for measuring the pot life of filled mortar, screed or grout compositions. It is not suitable for measuring the pot life of very fluid compositions such as unfilled resins or grouts.For these systems gel time can be measured in accordance with BS 2782: Method 835C but a more important criterion for effective pot life in these cases may be a measurement of flow or viscosity against time.
