14-lane fail over and 13-lane mode operate with the same frame format. 13-lane fail over does NOT use the same frame format as 12-lane mode. 13-lane fail over maintains memory ECC without channel CRC protection, while 12-lane mode is designed for non-ECC DIMMs.
