This Recommendation is concerned primarily with the system performance and interface
requirements of regenerative optical fibre submarine cable systems. The physical implementation of
such systems is considered separately in Annex A. Common information relevant to all the optical
fibre submarine cable systems is described in [ITU-T G.971]. Common information relevant to the
characteristics of optical fibre submarine cables is also described in [ITU-T G.978].
