This European Standard contains also Imperial units (non-SI units) besides the legal SI units. It is emphasized that
the use of these non-SI units is not allowed according to Council Directive 80/181 (Council Directive of
20 December 1979 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to units of measurement and on
the repeal of Directive 71/354/EEC). These Imperial units are quoted in brackets and only meant for assistance in
business and official situations with countries still working with them.
