This section deals with selecting the appropriate subassembly
interconnection, as well as the mechanism and communication format
between the interconnecting product, its daughters, and parents. The
major emphasis is placed on backplanes; various types are reviewed,
including metal plates and printed board. Special thermal assemblies
necessary to remove heat from the backplane are also presented.
