This Standard applies to the qualification testing of welders to establish their competency in MIG, TIC and Arc plasma welding of stainless steel pipework to meet the hygiene requirements of the dairy industry. It is not intended to cover the welding of pressure pipework. The test consists of:
(a) A butt joint in pipe and
(b) Branch connection in pipe
both welded from one side without backing.
