1.1 This standard specifies the size ranges. the performance. and certain mechanical features of metal clamps intcnded to be used in electrical instal-lations for the following purposes:
(a) To provide a means of connection between two earth continuity con-ductors. one of which is a pipe. conduit. rod or the outer metallic covering of a cable.
(b) For the purpose of connecting an earthing lead to an earth electrode.
1.2 The clamp may also be used in any position where it is necessary and appropriate to ensure carth continuity in any part of the electrical installation involving metal pipes or the outer metallic covering of electric cables.
1.3 Provision is made for a serics of sizes of clamps suilable for pipes having nominal outside diameters up to 2·38 in.
NOTE—In this standard the word ''pipe" shall be taken to include conduit, rod, or outcr metallic covering of a cable.
