This standard covers the general requirements, performance requirements and pertinent tests for rubber insulating mats for use as floor coverings near electrical equipment whose voltage does not exceed 650 V r.m.s. to earth.
NOTE: For the purpose of this standard, the term "mat(s)" applies to rubber mats used only for electrical purposes. It is not intended to imply that rubber mats should afford the sole means of protection for those working on electrical circuits. Whenever possible, further adequate precautions should be taken against the risk of shock and short circuit.
