1.1 This standard specifies types, rating, components, and construction, requirements, packing, marking and iabelling, sampling and criteria for conformity, and testing for motor-compressors, 1.2 This standard applies only to (1) sealed hermetic and semi-hermetic type motor-compressors for use in air-conditioning and refrigerating equipment for household and similar uses; (2) motor-compressors for use in factory-built assemblies for transfer-ring heat in applications for refrigerating or air-condition purposes for instances. NOTE? This standard does not take into consideration the special conditions of use which may occur when the appliance incorporating a motor-compressor is operating in locations where special conditions, such as explosive atmosphere, prevail.
