- This Outline covers equipment intended to recover one or more specific refrigerants other than R12 or R134a from automotive air-conditioning systems, The various refrigerants are to be EPA SNAP- accepted automotive refrigerants. The recovered refrigerant(s) is to be processed to a single or multiple storage containers. The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to a refrigerant reclamation facility that will process it to new product specifications or destroy it. The refrigerant removed from an automotive air-conditioning system with this equipment shall not be directly returned to an automotive air-conditioning system. This Outline covers equipment used to service automobiles, light trucks, and other vehicles with similar air-conditioning systems. The equipment shall be suitable for use in an automotive service garage environment. A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements in this Outline, and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements to determine that the level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of this Outline is maintained. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this Outline shall net be judged to comply with this Outline. Where appropriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this Outline.
