This bulletin, is one of a series on “Safety iii Industry” as related to mechanical and physical hazards. It is concerned with an important
aspect of accident prevention often overlooked, that of maintenance.
It is intended to enable persons concerned with programing
or supervising maintenance to recognize opportunities for applying
an approach different from routine maintenance operations.
This different approach is known as preventive maintenance. Some
of the more usual and common maintenance situations are described
together with the production and safety possibilities involved. Broad
principles of control are suggested
