1.1 This test specification describes the sound transmission loss measurement procedure for windows, doors and glazed wall sections. 1.2 The Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Outdoor- Indoor Transmission Class (OITC) ratings are generated from the sound transmission loss test data. 1.3 Air infiltration, operating force and latching force are integral elements of the acoustical performance of the tested unit and are therefore required in the product's performance evaluation, where applicable. 1.4 This scope excludes any interior window or door assemblies. 1.5 The primary units of measure in this document are metric. The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for reference only.
