This specification covers three types of organic biocides (differentiated by their physical state -liquid, paste or solid) that are soluble in or miscible with water and oil and are intended for use in emulsions of aqueous metal working fluid and aqueous hydraulic fluid.

a) The standards referred to in the specification are listed in appendix A.
b) A requirement that must be specified by the purchaser is noted in appendix B.
c) Information regarding the verification of the quality of biocides produced to this specification, and the sampling plan that can be used to assess compliance with the specification of a lot of biocide are given in appendix C.
