This part of the specification covers bonded preformed mineral fibre pipe sections intended for use as thermal insulation in industrial applications.
2 a) This part of the specification does not cover the requirements for any finishes that may be applied to pipe sections, nor does it cover the acoustical or electrical properties of pipe sections.
b) Pipe sections intended for use at temperatures below ambient should be provided with an adequate vapour barrier, which may be applied at the factory or on site. Such barriers are not covered by this part of the specification.
NOTE
1) Except under the standardization mark scheme, special agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser is required for assessment of compliance with the requirement of 3.4.
2) The standards referred to in this part of the specification are listed in Appendix A.
3) Guidance on the verification of the quality of bonded preformed mineral fibre pipe sections is given in Appendix B.
4) Information on the water-soluble chloride and organic matter content of the mineral fibre products is given in Appendix C.
