This standard specifies the characteristics of traffic signal controllers for use
- in ambient temperatures of -10 °C to 55 °C,
- in ambient relative humidities of up to 95 %, and
- at altitudes of up to 2 000 m above sea level.
2 This standard covers controllers designed to operate in one or more of the following modes of operation:
a) vehicle actuated (VA);
b) semi-vehicles actuated (semi-VA);
c) fixed time (FT);
d) manual;
e) master controller system (MCS); f) cableless linking facility (CLF)
g) urban traffic control (computer control) (UTC); h) flashing; and
i) hurry call (HC).
3 Additional facilities that, although useful, are not essential for the functional performance of the equipment and safety of operation, are included in the standard as optional.
