This specification covers three types and four accuracy grades of rectangular granite surface plates and tables ranging in size from 160 mm x 100 mm to 3 500 mm x 1 600 mm .
NOTE
a) Large surface plates when mounted on stands are generally known as surface tables.
b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser and those that must be agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser are listed in Appendix A.
c) Recommendations regarding the care of surface plates are given in Appendix B.
d) Notes relating to the periodic recalibration of surface plates are given in Appendix C.
