This standard specifies the leading dimensions and test requirements for lugs and ferrules for use in terminating and joining conductors of insulated electric cables, having compacted stranded, or uncompacted stranded conductors in the size range 10 mm2 to 630 mm2.
2. This standard covers lugs and ferrules for attaching to the conductor by compression, using special tools. Soldered lugs are not included.
3. This standard does not apply to compression joints on overhead conductors, which are designed to withstand high tensile forces, or to pre-insulated lugs.
