This specification covers three types of organic biocides (differentiated by their physical state - liquid, paste or solid) that are soluble in fuels and soluble in or miscible with water, and that are intended for use in hydrocarbon liquid fuels.
NOTE
a) Any additives, including biocides, intended for use in aviation fuels, particularly in fuels of the Jet Al kerosene type, have to be approved for use by the aircraft engine and airframe manufacturers and by the authorities adopting and approving the appropriate military specifications.
b) The standards referred to in the specification are listed in Appendix A.
c) A requirement that must be specified by the purchaser is noted in Appendix B.
d) Information regarding the verification of the quality of biocides produced to this specification, and the sampling plan that can be used to assess compliance with the specification of a lot of biocide are given in Appendix C.
