This Recommendation provides a method by which large numbers of calls may be monitored, giving rise to a very large quantity of data which must be suitable for subsequent analysis. The process by which this data is gathered and subsequently analysed is divided into two operations. Firstly, measurements are taken on each individual call monitored, and these are then used to produce metrics which are useful to service providers. Some additional information is also collected, which may be of use in the further investigation of problems which have been revealed by the monitoring process.
