The European Committee for Standardization, CEN, has set up numerous working groups and project groups in the field of medical informatics. The result of two studies relating to the exchange of medical data are now presented by Beuth Verlag in DIN-Fachbericht 41 (Technical report), published in English, which offers comprehensive source material on communication interfaces and interchange formats in interlaboratory communications, e. g. EDIFACT; basic communication services and media, e. g. SMTP, X.400 products; encoding and transmission of text and multimedia data under the aspect of data security.#,,#
