The CCITT, considering that when a station is equipped with receiving reperforating equipment, it is often necessary to clear the perforated tape of the perforator to ensure transmission of the last characters of a message received during the perforation of the first characters of the next message; this operation of clearing the tape may lead to mutilation of the beginning of the message that is being perforated (particularly if insufficient message separation signals have been transmitted).
