This specification covers earthworks carried out with heavy plant or light plant, or by hand, for general excavations, short trenches, terracing and landscaping. It covers the requirements for siteworks, excavations for foundations for bridges, buildings and general structures. It deals with safety precautions, classification of materials, excavation, filling, compaction and finishing. NOTE: The standards referred to in the specification are listed in Appendix A.
