1.1 These requirements cover the construction and performance of inferential ultrasonic and magnetic
type residential water flowmeters intended for use in dry, indoor atmospheres, and for cold water supplies
in a completely wetted pipe section when:
a) Connected directly to residential sprinkler fire protection systems; or
b) Connected to combined domestic plumbing and residential sprinkler fire protection service
(multipurpose fire protection system) when installed as specified in the Standard for the
Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes,
NFPA 13D.
