Scope
This standard specifies the test methods for austenitic and ferritic-austenitic (duplex) stainless steel intergranular corrosion test samples, test solutions, test instruments and equipment, test conditions and procedures, test results evaluation and test reports, etc. . This standard is applicable to test the intergranular corrosion tendency of austenitic stainless steel and ferritic-austenitic duplex stainless steel (hereinafter referred to as duplex stainless steel). Including the following test methods: a) Method A: 10% oxalic acid etching test method is a screening test for checking the intergranular corrosion of austenitic stainless steel. After the sample is electrolytically etched in 10% oxalic acid solution, the etched surface is observed under a microscope. To determine whether it is necessary to conduct long-term hot acid tests such as method B, method C and method E. It can also be used as an independent inspection method for intergranular corrosion under the condition that the structure and equipment under test are not allowed to be damaged. b) Method B: 50% sulfuric acid-ferric sulfate corrosion test method Put the austenitic stainless steel in 50% sulfuric acid-ferric sulfate solution for boiling test, and evaluate the tendency of intergranular corrosion by corrosion rate. c) Method C: 65% nitric acid corrosion test method Put the austenitic stainless steel in 65% nitric acid solution for boiling test, and evaluate the tendency of intergranular corrosion by corrosion rate. d) Method E: Copper-copper sulfate 16% sulfuric acid corrosion test method Put austenitic stainless steel and duplex stainless steel in copper-copper sulfate 16% sulfuric acid solution, after boiling test, use bending method or metallographic method to determine intergranular corrosion tendency . e) Method F: copper-copper sulfate 35% sulfuric acid corrosion test method Put austenitic stainless steel and duplex stainless steel in copper-copper sulfate 35% sulfuric acid solution, after boiling test, use bending method or metallographic method to determine intergranular corrosion tendency . f) Method G: 40% sulfuric acid-ferric sulfate corrosion test method Put austenitic stainless steel and duplex stainless steel in 40% sulfuric acid-ferric sulfate solution for boiling test, then use bending method or metallographic method to determine intergranular corrosion tendency. Appendix C of this standard gives the characteristics of each test method in tabular form, and Appendix D gives the application examples of method E, method F and method G. The test methods in this standard are not suitable for predicting the intergranular corrosion resistance of stainless steel under other media conditions, nor for predicting the corrosion resistance of stainless steel to other corrosion forms (such as pitting corrosion, uniform corrosion, stress corrosion, etc.) performance.
