Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for the stability, strength and durability of office task chairs. This standard gives guidance on test force values, number of cycles, etc. Test methods are developed for products that are fully assembled and ready for use. The dimensions in the test method apply only to office task chairs intended for adults. The test method includes forces acting on different components, simulating various usage states of office task chairs in normal use and foreseeable misuse. The test method is used to evaluate the performance of office task chairs, regardless of product materials, structural design and production process. The test results are only valid for the tested samples. When the test results need to be used for other similar products, it is very important that the test sample can represent a certain production model. The tests carried out in accordance with this standard are to enable the product to provide satisfactory performance in the intended use environment. This test method is based on tests on unused products or components. If the test method is proved to be reasonable and effective, it can also be applied to the defect investigation of the product. See Appendix B for the design data of the seat surface loading pad, and Appendix C for the design data of the stability loading pad. This standard does not contain requirements for products. Requirements may be specified in a separate requirements document. If there is no required document, see Appendix A (informative) for the force value and the number of cycles. These loads and number of cycles are suitable for any adult, regardless of their size and how long they have been using the product. This standard does not specify the acceptance test method for individual components of office work chairs. This standard does not include performance aging and degradation tests. The test method does not evaluate the durability of soft packages, such as filling materials and cladding materials.
