Scope

This standard specifies the evaluation method of electric field strength and magnetic induction strength around household and similar appliances, including operating conditions and measuring distance and position, involving electromagnetic fields not exceeding 300 GHz. Appliances may contain electric motors, heating elements or both, and may contain electrical or electronic circuits. It can be powered by mains, battery or other power sources. Appliances include household appliances, electric tools and electric toys. Appliances that are not intended for general household use but are still accessible to the public or may be used by laypersons are within the scope of this standard. This standard does not apply to: - appliances specially designed for use in heavy industry; - components of electrical installations intended for fixed installation on buildings (such as fuses, circuit breakers, cables and switches); - radio and television receivers`. Audio-visual equipment and electronic musical instruments; - medical electrical appliances; - personal computers and similar equipment; - radio transmitters; - appliances designed exclusively for use in vehicles. For multi-functional equipment involving different clauses of this standard and/or other standards at the same time, the relevant functions shall be assessed according to the provisions of each clause/standard. Abnormal operation of the appliance is not considered. This standard includes the following specific elements for assessing human exposure: - the provisions of the sensor; - the provisions of the measurement method; - the provisions of the operating mode of the equipment under test; - the provisions of the measurement exposure and position. The applicable frequency range of the specific measurement method is 10 Hz~400 kHz. Unless otherwise specified in GB 4706 (all parts), appliances within the scope of this standard are deemed to comply without testing in the frequency bands above 400 kHz and below 10 Hz.
