This standard specifies methods for determining the following parameters: a) compressive strength and relative deformation; or b) compressive stress at 10% relative deformation; and c) compression modulus of rigid foamed plastics, when required. There are two methods: --- Method A uses beam displacement to determine the compressive properties. Method A is specified when the compressive stress at 10% relative strain needs to be determined. --- Method B uses a strain measuring device (contact extensometer) or similar device fixed on the sample to directly measure the deformation of the sample. Method B is specified when compression modulus determination is required. NOTE: Both method A and method B can be used to determine the compressive strength (at maximum load).
