This standard stipulates: a) The method for measuring the water resistance of the inner surface of glass containers subjected to water erosion at 121±1°C for 60±1min. Water resistance is obtained by titrating a certain amount of quenching solution prepared by titrating with hydrochloric acid solution. At this time, the water resistance of the container is inversely proportional to the hydrochloric acid consumed. b) Classification of glass containers. This classification is determined according to the method for measuring the water resistance of the inner surface of glass containers specified in this standard. NOTE: The HC classes of water resistance of glass containers given by the titration method are comparable to those obtained according to ISO 4802-2, although individual test results for the two methods will differ. This standard applies to glass containers such as general glass bottles, small glass bottles, ampoules, flasks and beakers. These glass containers are made of soda lime glass, borosilicate glass or neutral glass with or without surface treatment. This standard does not apply to double ampoules.
