Scope
This standard specifies a character set consisting of 128 characters (control characters and graphic characters, such as letters, numbers and symbols) and their coded representations. This standard specifies a code table version common to China, and also provides an international reference code table version. This character set is mainly used for information exchange between the data processing system and related equipment and within the data communication system. When determining this character set, graphic characters and control functions required in data processing are also considered. When this character set cannot meet the needs of some special applications, it allows the use of code extension control characters, the use of these control characters is specified in GB/T 2311. The definition of control characters mentioned in this standard is stipulated in GB/T 5261. It is assumed that the data related to them are processed in forward order. When they are included in data strings that are not processed in forward order, or contain May have undesired effects when in formatted data for fixed record processing, or may require additional specific processing in order to guarantee that they produce the intended functionality.
