Scope

This standard specifies the details of the test apparatus used to determine the smoke emitted by electrical or optical cables when they are burned under specified conditions, for example some electrical or optical cables are burned horizontally. Under flaming or flameless burning conditions. Light transmittance (I₂) can be used as a means of comparing different cables or cables or judging compliance with specific requirements.
