Scope

This standard describes the physical characteristics of a contactless integrated circuit card (CICC). It is suitable for ID-1 type identification cards. This standard is applicable to the physical interface that transmits power, clock signal and data signal to CICC and receives data from CICC without using conductive contacts. This standard does not define the nature, number and location of contactless interfaces. Appendix A includes test methods and acceptance criteria for certain requirements. Note 1: The future development of other types of contactless integrated circuit cards providing different operating distances, styles or interfaces will require that this standard be supplemented, or lead to the development of additional national standards.
