This standard specifies the authentication model and general requirements and limitations of the entity authentication mechanism using security technology. These mechanisms are used to verify that an entity is who it claims to be. An entity to be authenticated proves its identity by showing that it actually knows a secret. These mechanisms are defined for the exchange of information between entities. If necessary, exchanges can also be made with trusted third parties. The details of these mechanisms and the content of the authentication exchange are not specified in this standard, but specified in other parts of GB/T 15843. The mechanisms specified in other parts of GB/T 15843 can be used to help provide the non-repudiation service specified in ISO/IEC 13888. The relevant content of non-repudiation service is not within the scope of GB/T15843.
