Scope
This guiding technical document supplements GB/T 14814 by providing introductory information. It does not attempt and should not be considered as an extension, modification or analysis of GB/T 14814de. The SGML language consists of a series of components, some of which are optional. These introductory information only cover the main components of the language. Note that discussion of LINK, CONCUR, and DATATAG is outside the scope of this technical guidance document. The readers of this guiding technical document are mainly document type designers, who are already familiar with the basic concepts of the SGML language and need guidance information for using SGML in various applications. 5.3 and 8.4 are written in the style of a User's Guide and can be used as the basis for end-user documentation. The appendix of GB/T 14814-1993 can be used as an introduction to SGML. This guiding technical document includes: before writing a formal document type definition, comments on document analysis and a series of samples. The main examples in the report are for common file types, formally defined as the examples in E1 in GB/T 14814-1993. Other examples are letters, memos, spreadsheets, mathematical formulas, and some mixtures of text and graphics. Note: Terms like "marked as" and "typed" are used in this guidance technical document, do not imply that the markup is added explicitly by the user, because text inputters expect to be able to use structured Context-sensitive editor or marked by the application. Example: Conversion of electronic reports.
