- This standard specifies the definition, symbols and abbreviations, product classification and naming, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and signs, packaging, transportation and storage of vented lead-acid batteries for railway diesel locomotives (hereinafter referred to as batteries). This standard applies to the batteries used in the starting and auxiliary electrical equipment of railway diesel locomotives.
