Scope
This standard specifies ergonomic data and their application in determining surface temperature limits and assessing the risk of burns. Within the scope of GB/T 15706, this standard applies to hot surfaces of machinery which are accessible or likely to be touched during normal use. This standard specifies data concerning situations where contact between bare skin and a hot surface burns or is likely to cause a burn. These data can be used for burn risk assessment. This standard also provides data for establishing temperature limits for hot surfaces to prevent skin burns, and this data can also be used in the development of professional machinery standards, which require temperature limits as a result of risk assessment. The data in this standard are applicable to the surface of objects with higher heat capacity than human skin. This standard does not apply to large areas of skin (approximately accounting for 10% or more of the body's skin) and hot surface contact. This standard also does not apply to skin contact over 10% of the head, or contact resulting in burns to significant parts of the face. This standard applies to healthy skin of adults. This standard does not provide data on the prevention of pain.
