This standard is for the measurement of repeatability and comparability of on-board noise levels of inland watercraft and sea-going vessels, and specifies the measurement techniques and conditions. The measurement results are mainly used for: ——Comparing various ships; ——In the delivery and receiving test, as a comparison with domestic or international regulations, and the specifications specified in the owner's contract technical specification; ——Monitoring test; ——As a basis for further research and noise reduction measures; - as a basis for assessing noise exposure and noise effects on the crew; - for assessing the intelligibility of speech; - for assessing the audibility of acoustic alarms. The uncertainty of measurements on board ships depends on several factors, eg measurement technique and environmental conditions. However, as long as the measurement is carried out in accordance with this standard, the repeatability error of the equivalent continuous A-weighted sound pressure level is equal to or less than 1.5dB.
