Scope
According to IMO resolution A.819 (19), this standard specifies the minimum performance standards, test methods and required test results for marine GPS receiving equipment. The device is located using Global Positioning System (GPS) signals from the United States Department of Defense (US DOD). In the case where Selective Availability (SA) is valid, the signal specification of GPS Standard Positioning Service (SPS) is defined (GPS SPS has been described in the GPS signal specification published by the US Department of Defense in December 1993). GPS SPS minimum performance standards are summarized in Table 2. This standard is also applicable to other GPS receiving equipment for water navigation specified in IMO Resolution A.529 (13). All sentences in this standard that are equivalent to IMO resolution A.819 (19) are marked with the chapter number in brackets. The requirements of Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 correspond to each other.
