Scope: This standard specifies general methods and procedures for testing the functional and performance characteristics of process measurement and control devices and for preparing test reports. The test methods and procedures specified in this standard are applicable to any kind of test or any kind of process measurement and control devices. These tests apply to any process measurement and control device, both analog and digital, with specified input and output variables and a specific relationship (transfer function) between the input and output variables. For devices that require special test items, the test should be carried out in accordance with this standard and in combination with product standards that have special provisions for such special test items. Part 1 of this standard discusses general rules applicable to the entire set of standards.
