Scope: This standard specifies general methods and procedures for testing the functional and performance characteristics of process measurement and control devices and for preparing test reports. The tests specified in this standard are applicable to any process measurement and control device, including analog devices and digital devices, with specific input and output variables and a specific relationship (transfer function) between input and output variables. For devices that require special test items, the test should be carried out in accordance with this standard and in combination with product standards that have special provisions for such special test items. Part 3 of this standard deals with tests for testing the effect of influence quantities.
