This standard defines the control functions used in text communication and their required coded representation. The second part specifies the control function of the page image format text. Title III specifies control functions for formatted and formattable text. These control functions are all derived from GB/T 5261, with two exceptions. The definition of control functions in this standard is generally more specific than the corresponding definition in GB/T 5261. The specifications in this standard are suitable for the exchange of graphic characters and control functions expressed in binary coded form, and are not suitable for the actual processing of text. Text is generally composed of characters and graphics, but this standard only applies to text composed of characters. The coded representation defined in this standard is intended to be used in the case where the relevant control functions are embedded in the communication text, but not in the case where the control function is separated from the text and used as a communication procedure element. This standard does not define the control functions required to control the communication process.
