Scope: This standard applies to remote control equipment and systems that monitor and control geographically distributed production processes and transmit data in serial coding. This standard also applies to teleprotection equipment and systems, distribution line carrier (DLC) communication systems supporting distribution automation systems (DAS), and related communication equipment, such as power line carrier equipment. This standard specifies the level of working environment conditions (climatic, mechanical and other non-electrical influence factors) for each component of the system. This standard does not consider special environmental conditions directly related to fire, explosion and ionizing radiation. Any detailed requirements for other environmental conditions (including those involving mobile equipment) that are not included in this standard but are related to the normal operation and life of the equipment can be determined through negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser.
