This standard specifies the performance bench test methods for automobile engines, including test methods for power and economy under various loads, test methods for starting, idling, and mechanical power loss under no load, and piston leakage related to cylinder sealing It is used to evaluate the performance of automobile engines. This standard applies to internal combustion engines of cars, trucks and other land vehicles, but not to internal combustion engines of motorcycles and tractors. The internal combustion engine belongs to the reciprocating type and the rotor type without free piston type. These include ignition and compression ignition, two-stroke and four-stroke, non-supercharged and supercharged (supercharged, turbocharged and intercooled), water-cooled and air-cooled. The type tests of new designs and major improvements, the verification tests of engines converted to production, and the quality inspection tests of engines currently in production, etc., shall be carried out in accordance with the methods specified in this standard. This standard can also be used as the technical basis for exchanges between engine manufacturers and automobile manufacturers.
