Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the test methods for measuring the "natural" length of plastic film and sheet coils (see Clause 2). This method is applicable to film and sheet coils with a length of less than 100m, and serves as a reference method for checking other measurement methods. Any other length measurement method can be used as long as the measurement result is the same as this method. If automatic measuring devices are used, the measurements made on each plastic film and sheet shall be checked in accordance with the procedures specified in this method. Due to the complexity of this method, in the case of long coils, it is allowed to use about 100m long plastic film or sheet measured according to this method for verification when verifying the other measurement methods mentioned above. 1.2 This standard also stipulates the test method for measuring the average width of plastic film and sheet coils, and the test method for measuring the sample width of plastic film or sheet with a width of more than 5mm (see Chapter 3). If the sample width is only slightly larger than 5mm, the measurement accuracy of this method is only 2%. This method specifies two steps for measuring width, which step should be used depending on the width of the sample. This method specifies a test method for measuring the "natural" width of plastic film or sheet webs. This method is the reference method for checking other measuring methods, and any other width measuring method can be used as long as the measurement result is the same as this method. If automatic measuring devices are used, the measurements made on each plastic film and sheet shall be checked in accordance with the procedures specified in this method.
