Scope

This part of GB/T 19897 introduces the technical description of the hardware and protocol for local instrument data exchange. In such a system, a hand-held unit (HHU) or equipment with related functions is connected to one or more tariff units. This connection is maintained through the use of an optical or electrical coupling interface. An electrical interface is recommended when a permanent connection is required, or when multiple rate devices need to be read out in the field. The optical interface should be easily connected and disconnected to collect data through a HHU. Protocols in the standard allow for the transcription and programming of rate devices. It is designed especially for use in electrical measurement environments, with special attention paid to electrical isolation and data security. At the same time, the agreement clearly stipulates the user's usage method, so as to facilitate the user to expand the application. This standard is based on the communication mode under the open system, but it adds more content, such as optical interface, protocol controlled by baud rate conversion, data transmission without feedback information, etc. This protocol provides several modes for rate devices. In modes A to D, the HHU (or a device with related functions) acts as the master and the tariff unit acts as the slave. In mode E, the HHU acts as a client and the tariff unit acts as a server. Since many systems are already in use, special attention has been paid to ensuring compatibility with existing systems and/or system elements and their associated protocols.
