This standard specifies the type of thermocouple used to measure the temperature of the sealing part of the quartz tungsten-halogen lamp, three processing methods and measurement methods for the lamp and thermocouple. The first two methods require extensive cutting or drilling of the pinch seal and connection of the conductive parts of the lamp. These three methods allow the thermocouple junctions to be fixed in precise locations on the surface of the crimp using adhesives or mechanically. In some cases, such as when forced cooling is used in equipment, it may be necessary to drill a small hole at this location so that the junction of the thermocouple is below the surface of the pinch seal. It can be considered that the third method is more suitable for manufacturers who do not produce quartz tungsten halogen lamps (which produce other kinds of lighting products). It is recommended that the test lamp be treated by the lamp manufacturer to ensure that the thermocouple connectors are secured in the correct position.
