Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, ordering content, dimensions, shape, quality and allowable deviation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks, quality certificates, and quality assurance of hot-rolled rails for railways. This standard applies to hot-rolled rails produced by continuous casting slabs at a speed of 160 km/h or less, and does not apply to full-length heat-treated rails.
